ATV Park
The River Valley OHV Park is located at 4300 East S. Omaha Bridge Road. It is open to the public and provides a place for ATV and off-road motorcycle enthusiasts to ride. The park is open from 7 a.m. to dusk. Vehicle registration required. Prohibited for children under 12. Children under 18 must complete an approved safety training class. IOWA ATV Law Summary

Safety certificate is required for persons whose age is 12-17.

No one under the age of 12 can legally operate a snowmobile or ATV on public land or ice.

Persons 12-15 years of age are required to have a safety certificate and be supervised by someone 18 or older when operating on roadways, highways or road ditches.

All snowmobiles and ATVs must be currently registered to be opertated on public land and ice. Vehicles are properly registered when they have registration numbers, decals displayed and the registration certificate on the person or with the vehicle. Motorcycles my be registered as ATVs. Registration is not required for ATVs operated under chapter 321.234A and snowmobiles and ATVs on private property.

ATVs and snowmobiles are to be registered at the County Recorders Office in the county of residence.

Passengers are not allowed to ride on the ATVs.

All public lands including road ditches require measurable snow for legal operation and may be designated for ATV or snowmobile use or both. ATV Parks are exempt for measurable snow requirements for ATVs.

Flags are only required when operating on roadways, highways or road ditches. Flags must be orange and five feet above the ground.

Accidents resulting in injuries or death to anyone or damage to personal property valued at $200 or above must be reported to a Law Enforcement Agency within 48 hours after the incident.
321.234A-All Terrain vehicles incidental to agricultural use.

Operator shall have a valid drivers license.

ATV must be opertated on highway or road ditch between sunrise and sunset.

ATV must be operated at speeds of less than 30 mph.

ATV must have a day-glow color flag which extends not less than five feet above the ground.

ATV must be used for agricultural purposes.

No snowfall or safety certificate is required under this code section.

No ATV registration is required under this code section.
